Resin printed parts are increasingly mixed into plastic kits, and they behave differently under a blade, under glue and under paint. Treating them as if they were styrene is the source of most of the problems people bring to the counter.
Resin is harder and more brittle
It chips rather than deforms, which is hard on fine cutting edges and unforgiving of flexing. Support removal is best done with a sturdier nipper and, where possible, with the part slightly warmed.
Wash and cure fully before anything else
Uncured resin on the surface will interfere with primer and remain tacky under paint for a very long time. This is the single most common cause of finish problems on printed parts.
Different glue
Plastic cement works by melting styrene and does nothing to cured resin. Cyanoacrylate or epoxy is required, and joins should be planned with mechanical support because the chemical bond is weaker.

What it costs
Across nippers and cutters at Redline Hobby prices currently run from $6.49 to $9.99. In nippers and cutters that spread is mostly build quality and pack size rather than brand name: the cheapest option on this shelf is a reasonable place to start, and the dearest earns the difference in daily use rather than on the specification sheet.
Questions we get at the counter
Are these tools suitable for resin as well as plastic?
Most are. Resin is harder on cutting edges, so for 3D printed parts we would point you at the sturdier nippers rather than the finest ones.
Do you sell the kits themselves?
No. We stock the tools, stands and bench materials that go around a kit.

Side by side
The table below pulls the published figures off the 5 nippers and cutters listings above so they can be compared without opening six tabs. A dash means the manufacturer of that nippers and cutter did not state the figure, not that the item lacks it, because Redline Hobby does not fill those gaps with estimates. Where a number matters to your decision and the table shows a dash, call +1 347-202-7247 and we will measure the item at the 3192 Webster Ave counter in about a minute.

How the rest of the shop is laid out
Redline Hobby keeps a deliberately narrow scale model building tools range, split into the sections below. The counts and price bands are read from the live redlinehobby.shop catalogue at the moment this page was built, so they show the actual shape of the Norwood shelf rather than a marketing summary of it. If a section looks small, that is because Redline Hobby would rather stock a few things we can answer questions about than list everything a distributor offers.
| Section | Items | Price range |
|---|---|---|
| Model Tool Kits | 11 | $9.99 – $43.99 |
| Nippers and Cutters | 5 | $6.49 – $9.99 |
| Painting Stands | 7 | $9.48 – $26.99 |
| Workbench and Materials | 3 | $22.99 – $68.99 |
Reading a product page here
Every listing on redlinehobby.shop is written from the manufacturer specification, and where the manufacturer is silent Redline Hobby leaves the field out rather than fill the gap, which is why some scale model building tools pages are shorter than others. The details block on each page carries the figures that were actually published — pack quantity, size, material and compatibility — and the paragraph underneath says which part of the Norwood shelf the item belongs to. Anything not covered there is a question for +1 347-202-7247, and Redline Hobby would rather answer it before an order than process a return afterwards. Stock counts come from the same records the counter uses, so an item showing as available is an item on the shelf at 3192 Webster Ave.
